Research initiatives, insights and data will be shared to enhance policy and practice within and beyond Flinders.
Innovation
The Institute enables the College to provide resources to devise, nurture and scale innovative responses to life and learning challenges.
Strategies to drive innovation include:
- collaborating with experts
- facilitating immersion programs and residencies for researchers and PhD scholars
- summarising contemporary research and findings
- promoting think-tanks and blue-sky workshops.

Research
Research projects conducted through the Flinders Discovery Institute aim to achieve three objectives:
- Generate robust and valid evidence detailing the impact of innovative programs and projects implemented at Flinders
- Provide new knowledge, skills and expertise about hot topics and contemporary issues underpinning research projects
- Embrace opportunities to inform policy and practice in Australian schools and schooling.

Inspire
Our Inspiring Futures... (IF) program comprises a suite of events conducted by the Flinders Discovery Institute targeting the needs and interests of Senior School students.
The IF program mitigates the impediment that "you cannot be what you cannot see", by providing opportunities for students to interact with high-performing role models within the context of a purposeful, experiential event.
IF... events more broadly aim to:
- Inspire students鈥 pursuit of excellence within and beyond Flinders
- Connect young people with inspiring role models who can share their career journeys and strategies to overcome barriers to success
- Enhance young people鈥檚 skills to be leaders of, and advocates for, awareness and change within and beyond Flinders
- Promote and celebrate the achievements of world-class innovators, practitioners and researchers
Current Inspiring Futures... (IF) Events at Flinders
Flinders Inspiring Women in Science and Health (I-WiSH) conference - This annual event identifies, empowers and nurtures a pipeline of talented women and girls in/to Health-Related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (HeR-STEM) careers.
Leading Men at Flinders- This program seeks to identify, inspire and nurture young men to become ethical leaders enacting positive masculinity, courage and integrity.
Flinders Youth Game Changers - In collaboration with the University of Queensland this program builds students' capacity to inform and lead the legacies emerging within the context of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Leave Well Seminar Series - Year 12 students at Flinders are provided with key information, support and resources to ensure they leave Flinders well and transition successfully into their future pathways.
